The first annual working conference of Hangzhou Municipal Specialized Committee for Urban Internationalized Education Promotion (hereinafter referred to as Hangzhou Municipal Specialized Committee for Internationalized Education) since its establishment was held at the International Communication Center of Hangzhou No.4 High School on the morning of April 29th. CHEN Hongying, Deputy Mayor and Director of the Specialized Committee, made important instructions at the conference. Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Education made special reports on the summary of the educational internationalization of Hangzhou in 2015 and working plans in 2016 in the name of Office of the Municipal Specialized Committee for Internationalized Education. Hangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Taiwan Affairs Office of Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government, Hangzhou Municipal Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Hangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, Hangzhou Municipal Civilization Office, Hangzhou Urban Management Committee, Hangzhou Municipal Finance Bureau and other member institutions made exchange and statements. Other member institutions declared their opinions.

    Deputy Mayor CHEN Hongying listed the highlights of educational internationalization in the past year, highly appreciated the four large changes Hangzhou educational internationalization has achieved – from academic education to life-long education, from solo action of education department to joint action of multiple departments, from knowledge education to situational experiential education, and from city-centered mode to city-district operation, and praised member institutions of the Specialized Committee for their focus on concept promotion, plan implementation, coordination, publicity and difficulty solving. While confirming present achievements, Deputy Mayor CHEN Hongying also made requirement that all member institutions of the Specialized Committee should face shortages and pull together to overcome difficulties when confronting new situation and new demands. First, increase awareness and clear responsibilities. Second, concentrate on crucial points and tackle key problems jointly. Third, strengthen supervision and stick to the schedule.

    HUAN Jinyuan, Vice Chairman of Hangzhou Committee of China Democratic League, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the key to urban internationalization was the internationalization of people, and the key to the internationalization of people was education.

    Hangzhou Municipal Specialized Committee for Internationalized Education was established by Hangzhou Urban Internationalization Promotion Work Committee in August 2015. The list of the Specialized Committee (H.G.T.W. [2015] No.3) was issued on November 11th. The Specialized Committee is led by the Deputy Mayor who is in charge of education, and its office is set at Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Education. It is responsible for planning and promoting major projects of urban internationalized education, raising annual working plan and policy suggestion and advice for internationalized education, and making information statistics and evaluation for internationalized education. The annual working conference this time further clarifies the task assignments among different departments, perfects working mechanism and cooperates to enhance educational internationalization, so as to greet G20 Summit through practical actions.

    Deputy Mayor CHEN Hongying specially inspected the International Department of Hangzhou No.4 High School before the conference and carefully listened to Principal ZHANG Weitao’s introduction about the Sino-foreign cooperative in running schools, and highly appreciated its schooling philosophy, organization management, faculty allocation and students cultivation, especially after learning the good news that all graduates of 2016 from the International Department have been accepted by famous Britain and American universities.
